Designed by sailplane legend Lee Renaud, the Aquila was the premier mid seventies standard class sailplane. Manufactured by Lee’s company Airtronics, the Aquila was considered, as all of Airtronics kits were, the best sailplane kits you could buy. They had set the gold standard for quality for many years until the introduction of laser cut kits in the late eighties. Lee was a master designer and with Skip Miller flying, in 1977 with the Aquila they won the F3B World Championship. The wing was slightly modified by adding Phillips entry and sheeting the bottom of the wing from the spar forward.
One of the most beautiful and classic designs from that era.
